~Thomas A. Edison
Throughout my four years at Fenn, so many extravagant opportunities have been presented to me. The opportunities that Fenn has provided range from all different aspects of life, making me grow as a person drastically. Fenn is a school that made me feel comfortable to try new things, with out worrying about being judged when I do them. When I came to Fenn, I was a kid that did not like to do anything out of my comfort zone. I would stick to things I was good at, and run away from the risks I should have taken.
By being at a school like Fenn, I was forced to take risks that I would never do with out coming. In sixth and seventh grade, I had to be in plays, which I would have never done before. Although I was really nervous, and had small roles, I learned so much about how plays and dramas work, which really opened my mind. Also, every year we have the Cultural Arts Festival, which made me step out of my comfort zone, and try things and learn about other cultures, that I would never learn about with out going in with an opened mind.
Along with being open minded, Fenn has given me opportunities to become a leader. Whether it is captaining the sports teams, and having to lead and be a role model to the other players, or lead groups in class discussions, I have learned how to be comfortable in these positions, and get the work done well. Also, before eighth grade, I dreaded public speaking. I would avoid it in anyway possible. But in eighth grade, after being asked to run for vice president, I realized that public speaking is necessary, and that it is not that horrible. Now I feel comfortable talking in front of crowds, and making announcements at all school meeting.
What Fenn means to me is taking risks; taking opportunities to lead, and being open minded.
