The Life of an Indian
In the book, Arnold, the main character, an Indian teen, who lives on a reservation, decides to do what is best for himself, but may not be the best for his reservation. As a kid who was once bullied, Arnold has to overcome obstacles within himself, his community, and his family. As an Indian rebel, Arnold, learns many valuable lessons about life and diversity.
As I finished the book, I felt completely different. Alexie perfectly describes a life of a boy who faces many challenges, and uses strength to overcome them. I realized that many of these challenges could happen to other people, and that these are extremely hard to overcome. I concluded that I need to be more empathic, understanding, and respectful.
Sherman Alexie writes the book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, to show how taking risks can may upset some, but the risks will eventually change your life for the good.
