Today was just boring. Since all of my friends from Sudbury have a week long break right now, they are all on trips, where they are either skiing or just taking a break. This is great for them, but awful for me. It is really annoying because my parents could not drive me anywhere since my dad was getting eye surgery. Since no one was around, I was forced to go with my parents to Dedham where my dad got his surgery. My mom and I dropped him off and then went to legacy place, a large outdoor shopping mall. The mall did not really have much for us to do in the time that we had. We ate a quick lunch and then drove to Dick's sporting goods, where we found nothing interesting. By the time we drove back, it was time to get my dad. We picked him up, and went back home. Today was just one of those days with a ton of driving.
Today I went to a basketball court in Sudbury called the Fieldhouse. I went with Ben Winters, his brother, and his brothers friend. At first, we played a little two on two. The game was really fun because I was playing basically one on one with Ben. We were not keeping score, but I think Ben's brother, Ryan, and I won the game. We played for about forty minutes, and then we split up and Ben and I played separately. Ben and I played a game of 21 and then just shot. After we had been playing for about an hour and a half, we walked over to Subway where we ate our lunch. I had a pretty good day!
The snow tornadoes blew on my face as a shoveled the two feet of snow. I started shoveling by my driveway, where the plow had pushed tons of snow and ice right onto the path. I had no idea how I was going to shovel all the snow away, but somehow, I managed to power through the first part of the mountain. The snow kept on blowing on my face, as I broke through the ice and went on to the rest of the walk. Little by little I reduced the amount of amount of snow. At last I reached the steps by the front door, and after I shoveled them, I felt really accomplished. It always feels great to get something done.
I am just tired. Today I got up early, took a shower, and then came to school. Every school day morning, I wake up and then go straight to the shower. Usually, after I am done showering, I feel awake and ready for the day. Today I was not. I am not really sure why I am so tired today, but I truly am. When I got to school today, Star even commented on how tired I looked today. I am assuming that I was just tired because I had a long week, with three late nights of homework or sports. I really can not wait until the day is over because I am really excited about the four day weekend. I can not wait to able to sleep late!
So far the Pdyssey has been extremely good. At first, the language was extremely hard to follow, which made the book kind of boring. Now, since I am getting pretty used to the language I am really starting to see the power of the book. My favorite book has definitely been book nine because I really liked the way that they got out of the cave. I also really like the way that Ian McKellan reads the Odyssey. I think the expression he puts in is terrific. I have really liked reading this book, and I can't wait read more!
The Origin of Football
Football was founded in the middle of the 19th century. It was based off of the game, rugby. Walter Camp, a Yale and Hopkins school graduate known as "the father of american football" developed the game by adding in most of the rules. In the late 19th century century, four college coaches, Eddie Cochems, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Knute Rockne, and Glenn "Pop" Warner, develop the "Forward Pass." The game became a huge hit in college, which eventually made it become a proffesional sport as well.
So Much Snow
So much snow, so much snow,
Where should it all go.
It's fun at first,
Then it's the worst.
1 foot, 2 feet, 3 feet, 4
And of course, there will be some more.
Where is the sun?
Because that's the real fun.
Where is spring, where is summer,
Truly, it is a bummer.
So much snow, so much snow,
Where should it all go.
As Matt and I climbed what seemed to be the never ending four foot wall of snow, we knew this game was going to be one of the toughest we would ever have to play. On most snow days, my good friend Matt and I normally play snow football with our brothers or our other nearby neighbors. This past Tuesday was just another one of those days. Matt's brother Gavin, and our neighbor, Luke, came over to my house when we decided we were going to play. Gavin is Matt's 16 year old brother, and Luke is also 16 years old. Matt and I knew, from experience, that this was only going to work if the snow was on our side. As we kicked off, all four of us, slow as turtles, ran for the ball. We played for about half an hour until we had more kids join. We ended up have a four on four brawl, that ended with us, the 8th graders, beating the 10th graders, by one touchdown. We had a great time demolishing each other in the snow, and I hope we get to do this in an upcoming snow day.
Many people are questioning if Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. Tom Brady has won 4 Superbowls, and in those 4 Superbowls he has won 3 Superbowl MVP's. Tom Brady is tied for the most Super Bowl wins by any quarterback. He is tied with Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana. Joe Montana is 4-0 in the Super Bowl and has very impressive stats. Tom Brady is 4-2 in the super bowl, but he also has great stats. Terry Bradshaw does have 4 Super Bowl wins, but I do not think he is the greatest of all time. In the four Superbowls that Joe Montana won, he had arguably the best wide receiver of all time, Jerry Rice. Tom Brady did not really have a great wide receiver, but his wide receivers were definitely not terrible. A key point in this discussion is that Joe Montana only has one late game rally, where Tom Brady has three. In the other games that Montana played in, he basically did not need to do much. From this point, you could agree that this means that Joe Montana was good enough that he did not need a late time rally, or you could argue that Brady is a more clutch quarterback because of this. To me and a lot of other people, we think that this is an opinion not a fact.
